This Guy is my new Hip replacement/

GET OUT.

I am going to the ROXY tonight after work. If either of my two readers are around... let go!

The Armpit of America Rocks On.

Arkansas, The land of the down river people. Not my favorite place to go. Life for the Ozarks. Home to those terrible slate rock roads by the Mississippi River, that make travel through there utter hell. It gave us Johnny Cash and it gave us Al Green and it now gives us Chase Pagan No, he is not Johnny Cash ( his voice sounds like a gals ), and he is definitely not Al Green. But his songwriting is inventive and unique and I think he has carved out a nice piece of sound for himself. He is signed to a Long Beach label and is in California for the moment. Try and see him if you can.

SOME MIGHT SAY

I started keeping this blog up, to make a certain someone feel better about their blog. Because i am absolutely sure NO ONE reads mine.

COLD CALLS

Nothing better than a person who is not "working" for a band calling me on the phone, introducing themselves and saying.. I think you would like this band. Even better when it is a cute sounding girl. Even better when they say things like. " I am not afraid of cold calling" To top it all off the band they call about is actually someone I end up liking after listening to them. They are called The Deadly Syndrome. A Los Angeles band that sound more like a band and less like a group.

You can check out "Eucalyptus" on my play list. I think their Album drops on Sept 11. I hope to get a copy.

strength in numbers

Last night on Letterman, Fiest performed and in usual fashion, she did so much more most performances on Late night TV. Granted she had some help from her friends. Take a look at this and notice the support group behind her.

The backing chorus are members of Grizzly Bear, The National, Mates of State and the New Pornographers, and Broken Social Scene. It takes a lot for labels to get behind this kind of performance. They don't want to incrue costs for extra people that might take away from their artist. It takes a lot for TV shows to get behind this because of the costs to pay each of these people. Each person has to be paid.

When everyone puts their worries and financial woes behind them... The result is something that makes for timeless television.
or uh youtube. However, if I catch the rerun of this show.. I will watch it.
